Pushing the door of the large entrance door, I am struck by the beam of rarefied light coming from it
from the entrance hall... in dim light, a large vase rests on a beaten and worked stone floor
chisel… while I explore the house, located on both sides of the Via Francigena, one side facing the town, the other
side facing the river, I can t help but think about how these places full of history can
come back to new life through a skilful renovation that allows more people to enjoy it
to use. A B&B would be perfect. The structure which already consists of 5 bathrooms, 6 bedrooms, 4 hallways, 3
living rooms, 3 kitchens and is currently stacked in 4 residential units... in short, easy game. While I explore
the hanging garden at the back of the house, I admire the sloping bases of the stone structure
worked, the old and the new overlap and it is a moment to see travelers and merchants who have just arrived
from the mule tracks of the Apennines, like young families enjoying an outdoor breakfast...

Spingendo il battente del grande portone d’ingresso vengo colpito dal fascio di luce rarefatta proveniente
dall’androne… in penombra, un grande vaso poggia su di un pavimento di pietra battuta e lavorata a
cesello… mentre esploro la casa, posta sui due fronti della via Francigena, una lato fronte paese, l’altro
lato fronte fiume, non posso fare a meno di pensare a quanto questi luoghi pieni di storia possano
tornare a nuova vita attraverso una sapiente ristrutturazione che permetta a più persone di poterne
usufruire. Un B&B sarebbe perfetto. La struttura che già si compone di 5 bagni, 6 camere, 4 disimpegni, 3
saloni, 3 cucine ed è attualmente accatastata in 4 unità abitative… insomma, gioco facile. Mentre esploro
il giardino pensile presente sul retro della casa, ammiro i basamenti spioventi della struttura in sasso
lavorato, l’antico ed il nuovo si sovrappongono ed è un attimo vedere viandanti e mercanti appena arrivati
dalle mulattiere dell’appenino, come giovani famiglie che si godono una colazione all’aperto …
